In a significant development aimed at deepening bilateral ties, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has announced that Saudi citizens can now enter Pakistan without a visa. The announcement came during a high-level meeting between Minister Naqvi and Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Saeed Ahmad Al-Malkiy, held at the Diplomatic Enclave in Islamabad. The two officials engaged in detailed discussions covering travel facilitation, diplomatic relations, and collaboration on law enforcement.
Strengthening Regional Ties
Minister Naqvi expressed his gratitude for Saudi Arabia’s continued support, particularly noting the Kingdom’s participation in a recent anti-narcotics conference co-hosted by Pakistan and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). He highlighted that the visa-free entry policy marks a new chapter in facilitating people-to-people connections and promoting mutual tourism and business travel.
Reforms and Cooperation
Naqvi also provided updates on ongoing reforms in passport issuance and national documentation, emphasizing the government’s focus on security, digital efficiency, and anti-fraud measures. He also briefed the ambassador on Pakistan’s latest internal security initiatives, including a crackdown on organized begging networks and efforts to curb street-level crime.
A notable highlight of the meeting was Naqvi’s praise for Saudi Arabia’s role in securing the release of five Pakistani citizens previously imprisoned in a drug smuggling case later proven false. He described the diplomatic success as a clear example of the strong coordination and mutual trust between the two countries.
