Chinese Mainland media reported that Huawei Canada announced three commitments related to its product development, talent training and corporate social responsibility in Canada; among them, the first 5G smartphones specifically for the Canadian market will be released before the end of this year.
“Zhongxin News Agency” reported that Huawei not only promised to release 5G smartphones for the Canadian market before the end of the year, but also promised to bring 5G mobile network technology to Canada, and support local economic development and service communities. In addition, by 2020, Huawei Canada will provide technical training to more than 1,000 Canadians.
The company also promised to work with local charities to donate $100,000 to the Canadian capital Ottawa flood relief as soon as possible. Huawei employees in Ottawa can choose to take paid vacations to participate in flood relief and post-disaster cleanup as volunteers.
Li Hongbo, president of Huawei Canada, said that Canada is the location of Huawei’s 5G research, and the company will work hard to ensure that it is at the cutting edge of 5G technology.
Huawei Canada was founded in 2008 and currently has more than 1,000 employees across Canada, of which more than 600 are engineers.
