The United States imposed sanctions on Huawei, but German Chancellor Merkel said that Germany will stick to its position and let Huawei participate in the 5G bidding.

Merkel stressed that Germany will adhere to its 5G labeling rules. Any bidder must meet the standards set by the government and will not shut out Huawei but must comply with the standards set by the government.

In March of this year, Germany imposed strict regulations on telecommunications network equipment suppliers and did not give special treatment to Huawei’s relationship with the Chinese government.

The United States has recently escalated its pressure on Huawei. Trump earlier signed an executive order to declare a foreign threat to the US technology industry as a “national emergency.” The Ministry of Commerce subsequently included Huawei and 70 related companies into the sanctions black.
