Although glamour can sometimes hide purpose, the whole cinema industry gathered yet again at the Cannes Marché du Film in March this year.
The past 77th edition of the most important film festival in Europe (and in the world) was crowded again with cast, crew, press, PR, students, pitchers, and foremost, the eternal fans of cinema world.
The Palme d’or of honour was awarded this year to film director George Lucas, very well-known for his Star Wars saga films, who picked up the award from his long-lasting friend’s hands, Francis Ford Coppola.
Both film directors have a long story of sharing their love for movies since university days, and both were delighted to meet again on stage in Cannes, constantly showing they cared for one another.
The festival’s Palme d’or was awarded this year to the film called #anora by director Sean Baker: a touchy portrait of sexual workers and their hard lives in our communities, with a modern twist to it.

Besides all the awarded films, the Palais was full of talks, screenings, pitches, and side events that were a welcoming rendez-vous trigger at all times.
Same as every festival’s edition, the countries #pavilions also gathered cocktail-minded professionals that stood as world-wide representatives over the almost two weeks that the event lasted (being the #italian pavilion at the forefront of them all, as always).
So, if you feel that you belong to the film industry in some of its amazing creative sides, do not hesitate to join us all this year. You will surely not regret enjoying not only the films but also the people and the beautiful beachy landscapes.
