A Museum Unlike Any Other
Unlike traditional museums that showcase the past, the Museum of the Future is dedicated to what’s coming next — in the next 20, 50, or even 100 years. It was launched by the Dubai Future Foundation under the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and officially opened on February 22, 2022 after nearly six years of planning and construction.
Costing around $136 million, the building spans seven immersive floors and invites visitors to experience the future firsthand.
Inside the Museum: A Journey Through Time and Innovation
Each floor of the museum presents a futuristic concept or theme:
- OSS Hope – Space Station 2071
Step into a futuristic space station and explore life beyond Earth. This exhibit showcases Dubai’s vision of space colonization and scientific advancement. - Heal Institute – Regenerating Nature
A digital reimagining of the Amazon Rainforest. Learn how future biotechnology and environmental monitoring can restore ecosystems and heal the planet. - Al Waha – The Oasis of Wellbeing
A sanctuary that blends future wellness practices with mindfulness. Engage in meditative and sensory experiences that calm the mind and body. - Tomorrow Today
Discover breakthrough innovations that are already shaping the future — from AI and robotics to renewable energy and smart mobility. - Future Heroes (Children’s Zone)
A dedicated interactive space for children aged 3–10, encouraging imagination, problem-solving, and collaboration in fun and educational ways.
Architectural Marvel: A Symbol of the Unknown
The museum is one of the most complex architectural feats in the world, designed by Killa Design and built using parametric design and 3D modeling. It features:
A torus-shaped structure (ring/eye) representing knowledge, while the empty center symbolizes the unknown future.
Over 1,000 stainless steel panels, each uniquely shaped and engraved with Arabic calligraphy featuring quotes by Sheikh Mohammed.
Fully powered by renewable energy, emphasizing the UAE’s commitment to sustainability.
The Iconic Hand Sculpture
In front of the museum stands a striking metal hand sculpture, inspired by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s signature gesture: three raised fingers. This gesture symbolizes:
“Win, Victory, Love”
It’s a message of national pride, positivity, and leadership, now immortalized as part of the museum’s exterior, reflecting the values that fuel Dubai’s forward-thinking ambition.
