Trump Explores $30 Billion Civilian Nuclear Deal with Iran — But Denies It

1 min read

In a surprising development, reports suggest the Trump administration considered a proposal to offer Iran up to $30 billion in support of a civilian, non-enriching nuclear program. The package may have included the unfreezing of Iranian assets and significant sanctions relief, intended to incentivize Iran to halt uranium enrichment and focus on peaceful nuclear energy.

The deal was reportedly part of behind-the-scenes diplomacy involving Gulf nations who might help finance the initiative. The aim appeared to be stabilizing the region through economic and energy cooperation, rather than military escalation.

However, former President Trump publicly denied these reports, calling them fabricated and politically motivated. Despite the denial, backchannel discussions reportedly continue, centered on limiting Iran’s nuclear activities to non-military purposes, without allowing enrichment capabilities.

This comes at a time of heightened regional tension, recent ceasefires, and renewed interest in avoiding full-scale conflict. If such a deal were to materialize, it could represent a major shift in U.S.–Iran relations and a return to strategic diplomacy through economic leverage rather than confrontation.
