The financial ties between Jeffrey Epstein and prominent organizations, particularly the International Peace Institute (IPI) and the Gates Foundation, reveal a calculated strategy extending beyond mere financial transactions. These connections, detailed in a recent Fortune investigation, illustrate how Epstein leveraged the credibility and networks of established entities to further his own manipulative agenda, often ensnaring women in his orbit under false pretenses. His involvement with a United Nations-affiliated think tank, which focuses on conflict resolution, offered a veneer of legitimacy that obscured his predatory actions.

In 2013, Epstein facilitated a significant connection between the International Peace Institute and the Gates Foundation. He reportedly advised IPI employees on how to secure their initial $5 million donation from the Gates Foundation, working directly with Bill Gates to expedite the process. This collaboration proved substantial, with the Gates Foundation contributing approximately 20% of IPI’s total donations between 2013 and 2015. Such high-level endorsements and financial backing from respected global organizations inadvertently provided Epstein with a powerful tool, allowing him to present himself as a legitimate figure operating within humanitarian and philanthropic circles.

One woman, former Russian model Svetlana Pozhidaeva, recounted her experiences within Epstein’s elaborate scheme. At 31, she had been an assistant to Epstein for about five years when these connections were developing. Pozhidaeva, like many others, later stated she was sexually abused by Epstein. The perceived connections to influential leaders, however, caused her to question her own judgment at the time. She remembered thinking, “If someone like this comes to [Epstein’s] house, maybe it’s me who doesn’t understand something here,” highlighting the psychological impact of his association with figures of authority and prestige.

Epstein allegedly promised Pozhidaeva a role orchestrating a conference on pandemic preparedness, involving health experts and diplomats, in partnership with both IPI and the Gates Foundation. Despite this elaborate proposition, she stated she was never given any actual responsibilities. This promise of a professional opportunity, she explained, served as one of the “hooks” Epstein used to keep her in his proximity, illustrating a pattern of offering enticing, yet ultimately hollow, prospects to maintain control.

The Gates Foundation has since distanced itself from Epstein’s actions, issuing a statement condemning the harm he inflicted upon women and girls. They emphasized their distress that Epstein used their name to further his agenda without their knowledge. Similarly, the International Peace Institute expressed solidarity with the survivors of Epstein’s wrongdoings. These post-revelation statements underscore the unwitting role these organizations played in providing a platform, however indirect, for Epstein’s manipulative tactics.

The narrative surrounding Epstein’s activities frequently focuses on his targeting of young women and teenage girls. However, these new insights reveal a broader pattern where some women, already connected to him, were trapped for extended periods through the strategic deployment of these institutional affiliations. The promise of legitimate work and access to influential networks became another method of ensnarement, prolonging their entanglement in his manipulative web. The unfolding details continue to shed light on the sophisticated mechanisms Epstein employed, extending beyond direct coercion to include the subtle yet powerful influence of association with respected global entities.
