Dubai’s Museum of the Future made a remarkable impact at this year’s South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas, attracting long queues of visitors eager to experience its innovative offerings. Running through March 15, SXSW is a renowned event that celebrates the intersection of technology, film, music, education, and culture, drawing global attention each year.
This year, the Museum of the Future made waves with its immersive ‘House,’ a space filled with cutting-edge, AI-powered installations and thought-provoking discussions. Highlights included panels featuring astronauts Hazzaa Al Mansoori and Shawna Pandya, as well as a prestigious gala dinner curated by Emirati Chef Maitha Tariq Warshaw. Over 90 notable speakers from SXSW attended, including Hugh Forrest, Co-President and Chief Programming Officer of SXSW, who expressed admiration for the Museum’s participation.
Visitors marveled at the seamless fusion of futuristic technology and cultural heritage presented by the Museum. “It’s like stepping into another world. Truly breathtaking,” one attendee shared.
Abdulaziz Al Jaziri, Deputy CEO of the Dubai Future Foundation, extended an open invitation to explore Dubai, offering a glimpse into the UAE’s innovative spirit and rich cultural landscape. “We invite you to experience firsthand what this young nation, just over 50 years old, has accomplished and its bold vision for the future,” he said.
The event also featured popular culinary experiences that had attendees talking. Among the highlights was the viral Dubai chocolate with pistachio kunafa, a sweet creation from FIX Dessert Chocolatier. “It’s been incredible to introduce this flavor to a global audience,” said Hamouda, referring to the 300-gram bar of milk chocolate filled with pistachios and crispy kunafa. The treat quickly became a crowd favorite.
Guests also had the chance to sample traditional Dubai flavors, including the aromatic and authentic ‘karak chai’ from Project Chaiwala, a homegrown tea brand known for its rich, flavorful brews.
With its unique blend of technology, culture, and cuisine, the Museum of the Future’s presence at SXSW highlighted Dubai’s commitment to shaping the future while honoring its traditions.
