Anatoly Balchev Presents “Vysotsky. Unknown… a True Story” at the Venice Film Festival 2025

On Friday, September 5 at 6:00 PM at Sala Laguna (Via Pietro Buratti, 1 – Lido di Venezia), the film “Vysotsky. Unknown… a True Story” by acclaimed director Anatoly Balchev will be presented as a special event within the framework of Isola Edipo, during the 82nd Venice International Film Festival.

Through previously unseen footage and unique testimonies, the film unveils untold stories from the life of Vladimir Vysotsky — the Rebel Poet, Bard, and Artist who left a profound mark not only in Russia, but also in France, the USA, Canada, Italy, and Mexico during the 1960s and 70s. His creativity in theater, cinema, and poetry was born through struggle and sacrifice, and his legacy continues to spark discussion and passion today.

This screening will be held in the presence of director Anatoly Balchev, marking a significant cultural moment that connects generations to the image and voice of Vysotsky.

The project is proudly supported by Anna Stukkert, whose contribution highlights the international importance of bringing Vysotsky’s story to new audiences.
