A food festival was held on July 28th in Gilroy, northern California, and a large number of police officers and ambulances were present. The New York Times quoted local city councillors as saying that the incident had caused three deaths and 12 injuries.
The incident took place at 5:30 pm on the 28th, and the three-day Gilroy Garlic Festival entered its final day. As can be seen from the social network’s footage, there are many loud gunshots in the background, and the people who participated in the event rushed away, and the helpless lady asked what happened in the film. Witnesses said that the situation was very confusing at the time of the incident and that someone was yelling for the missing children.
The CNN quoted local officials as saying that law enforcement officers had recovered firearms and ammunition on the spot. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is also involved in investigating the incident.
President Donald Trump said he was aware of the incident and said that the gunmen were still at large, calling on the public to be safe and careful.
The Gilroy Garlic Festival, which began in 1979, has food, drinks, live entertainment and cooking competitions. This year’s Food Festival is held at Christmas Hill Park, about 48 kilometers southeast of San Jose. According to the official website of the event, participants are prohibited from carrying any kind of weapons to the scene.
