US President Donald Trump told reporters on September 17 that Washington may reach a trade agreement with China before the 2020 presidential election, or it may be reached after American voters vote.

He told reporters before boarding Air Force One in California to go to California. Beijing believes he will be re-elected, but Chinese officials may prefer to deal with others. He said that he has indicated to China that if the agreement is reached after the general election, the terms will be “very much worse”.

Trump also said that China began to buy American agricultural products in a “big league” way. The US Department of Agriculture said that private exporters sold 256,000 tons of soybeans to China, which will be shipped in the market year from 2019 to 2020. This is the second consecutive trading day for China to purchase soybeans from the United States. Since September 13, the Ministry of Agriculture has announced an export agreement with China to accumulate a total of 720,000 tons of soybeans.
