SPEAKER EXERPTS:
1. Vica Valentina Chen (Indonesia) –
Vica provided us with an activity that allows us to understand how our mind works by highlighting “a mind filter”. If we focus on one specific thing (e.g. a color in the room), the mind does not allow us to acknowledge other things in the surrounding. It is very important to be mindful of what we say or what we put into our minds. Take time to reflect on all your experiences. Words are very powerful so use it wisely. Where your focus goes, energy flows.
2. Brad Shaw (Indonesia) –
“LEAD-THE-SHIP” – Bradley talks about leadership in crisis. First, as a leader you must take care of yourself and be happy. You have to be comfortable in uncertainty and ambiguity which is the new comfort zone. It’s important to be honest and focus not on the worst case scenario but on the most likely scenarios.
Leader action points by “painting the picture of the future”
1. Give credible to hope, show what your mission is, understand the emotions of the people and their fears
2. Be emotionally balanced by using the “Emotional Balance Sheet” – to help overcome selfishness, lethargy, weakness and fears.
3. Alfredo De Joannon (Italy) –
Our ability to respond to a crisis is by having more information. He shares with us some reflections happening in Italy. Right now the world is facing an unprecedented situation, something that is very powerful since the Spanish Flu. The previous SARS was a gentle kick from something higher to help humanity to evolve as our civilization hit a point where we were unable to change. We need a miracle but have to prepare to face a situation that is very new until the vaccine is produced. Potentially what we will see in a few months will bring us to bring us to a crash of the economy, but also to a great opportunity to reset. How we can come out of this is to work together. This is forcing us to not act as a nation, as a country, but to bring out the best in us collectively and find a global solution. This is the big challenge we are facing now. So how can we strengthen ourselves inwardly and outwardly, so that way we can cooperate together.
4. Sai Kiran (India) –
Sai shares about all the goodwill activity that has been happening in his home country, India. He says “Gesture of goodwill is not about the magnitude of possessions but more about empathy and national solidarity”. A little bit goes a long way as it can make a huge impact on people’s lives. It’s about the feeling behind it and not so much about the item itself. We define ourselves not in terms of “I and me” but of “we and us”.
5. Anne Patricia Sutanto (Indonesia) –
Anne shares with us that she started this COVID19 prevention by producing masks for all of her workers and families. Now they are making custom orders for reusable masks and have produced over 10 million masks so far. They will be making 100 million reusable masks within the next three months, and by December produce up to 300 million. Recently, they were approached by the Indonesian government to produce medical grade protective jumpsuits, and so far have made 10
thousand pieces already. They are committed to producing 10 million medical grade protective jumpsuits as well as 1 million washable jumpsuits in the next three months. They are trying very hard to make sure the demand domestically as well as the world is being met. It’s not so easy as they are going from non-medical grade to reusable medical grade level three, however they are doing their best.
6. Panca Sarungu (Indonesia)-
Panca speaks about “survival and planning recovery for Indonesia tourism post COVID19”. He shares COVID19 is the worst ever for Indonesia tourism for 25 years, probably 10 times more than the Bali Bombing in terms of loss in total revenue. There are four things that need to be anticipated in terms of survival and planning.
1. Refine the sales strategy by avoiding massive discounts that will impact your brand and save any marketing budget for new initiatives.
2. Refocus on existing customers by maintaining the relationship, showing empathy and discussing the post pandemic plan.
3. Re-invent the Business Operation Model by reviewing your portfolio and offerings, as well as aligning new customer behaviors.
4. Re-image New Business Opportunities by shifting online.
Everyone is saying that the world will change once the pandemic is over as there will be new discoveries and new beginnings.
7. Vineet C. Nambiar (Qatar) –
Vineet shares his view on “Imaging a Post-Corona world”. He believes it’s creating a whole generation reset as we will see more globalization and a new acceleration of trends. Post-Corona will continue to lead us through mainstreaming of online events and also remote working. He sees a whole new rise of companies, billions of dollars of assets are going to be created, new millions of jobs will be available as new opportunities are coming up. This is why it’s important to study these trends as you can definitely capitalize from it. Despite all the uncertainty and negativity that’s going around due to the pandemic, this is really helping us shift into a new paradigm and is ascending us faster than we can imagine. We just have to keep our eyes open and trust that this is happening for a reason. It is allowing us to grow in the best possible ways and expand our horizons. Every challenge is an opportunity for growth.
8. Dr Benjamin Mogede (Africa) –
Dr Benjamin shares what they have done in South Africa during this pandemic. They have managed to actively operate to get things in control. One of the projects with the demographic government was to eradicate the packet system since the year 2000. They teach people what not to throw into the toilets, what are the things you must use etc. They have done the groundwork for 20 years, so now that the pandemic is here, they are much more prepared despite being the second most developed country in Africa (after Nigeria). Their people are up to scratch, are listening to the government and cooperating. However, they are still experiencing a high distinguishment between the poverty levels. The challenge is to provide the extremely poor individuals with essential services like hygiene that aligns with the WHO standards (washing hands etc.). What he sees post-COVID19 is a nation that is going to be more developed a lot, especially in the agriculture aspect which is the most important
