Awaken: the future of well-being

2 mins read

Our reporter and author Neus Flores was lucky to meet Anna Salvato, Awaken´s founder and CMO, and spend some time with her to answer some questions on a nice, relaxed and sunny spring day.

How did Awaken start?

Over a year ago, we had a mission to create a movement and a #community of #conscious people, awaken, curious and open-minded in order to raise awareness around very important topics such as #sustainability, personal growth, and #spirituality.

Do you think the world needs to change?

Yes, and this is one of the main reasons we created Awaken. Our current society is very individualistic, it has kind of lost its #purpose and sense of togetherness, and so we are building a community focused on creating a better tomorrow.

Even though medicine has developed very fast in the last century, we currently see an increase of people suffering from anxiety, depression, and the treatments we have to overcome them are just diminishing their effects, but not helping directly to heal the root cause of the problem in a more #holistic way.

Why did you choose Barcelona to develop your business?

My business partner and I have been living in Barcelona for a very long time now, and we see this city as being very open, eclectic, people are very active and curious here, and this is the perfect environment for us to thrive in.

Anna Salvato and Stefania Nappo founders of Awaken

Since we started with Awaken, Barcelonians have responded to our project in a very positive way, coming to every event we organize, and sharing their good vibes with us.

So what does the Awaken program include?

We do a wide range of activities.  We collaborate with specialists and #practitioners to bring to our community different offerings such as conscious parties, talks, networking events, art therapy workshops, #ecstatic dance, cacao ceremonies, astrology, and paddle surf during the full moon in summer.

Are you collaborating with other international brands?

Our events are organized both in English and Spanish, since our community is very international, and so are the specialists and practitioners we collaborate with. But we are still not collaborating with any international brand, yet.

What does success mean to you?

For us right now, success means inner #peace. It means being more connected to everyone else. It means building a community that we can trust and feel save in, a community that can help us make a positive impact in the world.

So, what are your next projects?

We are currently focused on developing our #platform, which will allow holistic and spiritual wellness to be accessible to anyone from anywhere in the world.

What advice would you give to the future generations of awakeners?

Go for it! Be curious, be open-minded, try new things, explore, meet new people and always keep learning.

Can you recommend us a book to read over the Easter holidays?

I can recommend the book The Awakened Brain by Lisa J. Miller, Professor in the Clinical Psychology Program at Columbia University, where she applies neuroscience to spirituality, and clarifies how spirituality can heal mental health issues.
