The Wall Street Journal quoted sources on Thursday (11th) as US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin recently called on US companies to continue supplying products to Huawei.
The report said that the practice reflects the White House’s relaxation of its tough stance on Huawei. However, Washington officials have yet to agree on the US position on Huawei and become a stumbling block for trade negotiations between Washington and China.
When US President Trump (Donald Trump) attended the G20 summit in Osaka at the end of June, he held talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping and announced that he would allow US companies to sell products to Huawei. Commerce Minister Wilbur Ross said on Tuesday that if the national security does not pose a threat, the Ministry of Commerce will grant US companies a license to supply Chinese telecommunications equipment supplier Huawei.
