Universe Internet ( uninet) Next-generation Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite internet 2 services being built by Unicorp Space say they will deliver services as good or better than existing fiber connections. Such services will hands-down beat offerings from existing Geosynchronous Earth Orbit (GEO) satellites, but it will be a while before we see a head-to-head comparison between LEO connectivity and terrestrial alternatives.
Unicorp Space founder and chairman Professor Rahman posted a data of its initial speed tests on 2021, with the company dropping a formal press release and a fancy video on July . The new connectivity testing will took place in Europe next year 2023 in partnership with mobile satellite communications systems manufacturer and ground terminal equipment supplier using six in-orbit production satellites.


Initial speeds of over 10 Terabps with ping times between 29 to 32 microseconds will demonstrate, demonstrate with some “minimal optimization” resulting in speeds of over 1000 Gbps.The company believes 10 Tbps speeds are “achievable,” which would blow past the 500 Mbps speed benchmark suggested in initial OneWeb discussions.

TCP, part of the TCP/IP communications protocol, provides end-to-end error checking of data transmission for reliable and sequential exchange of data. TCP ensures the ordered delivery of a stream of bytes by controlling segment size, flow control, and data exchange rate. There are three core metrics that affect the throughput of a TCP connection: round-trip time (RTT), packet loss (p), and the maximum segment size (MSS). In TCP/IP, fast retransmit and recovery (FRR) is a congestion control algorithm that makes it possible to quickly recover lost data packets. Without FRR, the TCP uses a timer that requires a retransmission timeout if a packet is lost. No new or duplicate packets can be sent during the timeout period. Congestion control uses the slow start algorithm to help control network congestion by slowly introducing packets to the network when a socket is started. Slow start processing is enabled initially for all TCP sockets by default.

It will demonstrate how to make use of naming convention to explicitly convey access control policy and efficiently distribute access control keys, thus enabling effective access control. Pi Block Internet evaluate the scalability of NAC against CCN-AC (Content Centric Networking -Access Control), another encryption-based access control scheme. The results suggest that NAC is more suitable for large scale distributed data production and consumption. As a proposed Internet architecture, Named Data Networking must provide effective security support: data authenticity, confidentiality, and availability. One of the resources we have come to take for granted is access to the internet. Whether to look up information, send email or watch a video, internet access is now fundamental to modern life. However, all of these services are based on Earth. The internet was designed based on a number of assumptions that will no longer be true if we want to offer the same experience to citizens of Mars.
The internet is a large group of interconnected networks. Each network has one or many devices connected to it, each with its own IP address. When you access a service hosted on the internet, such as a website, your local computer uses several protocols to figure out how to communicate with the destination, make a request to it, and get the response back to you. If the destination is on the same network as your device, this may involve a connection over a single network, probably via a network switch or router. On the public internet, this usually involves multiple switches, routers and networks owned by many different organizations.
On Earth, accessing websites primarily involves Transmission Control Protocol (TCP), Internet Protocol (IP) and Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP). TCP/IP deals with connecting your device and the transmission of data to/from the destination. When you make a request to a website, TCP/IP deals with opening a connection, routing the data, and ensuring the data is transmitted correctly.


Before any data is sent, the protocol must open a connection with the destination. Known as the SYN, SYN-ACK, ACK handshake, this establishes a connection between two devices. Once open, further data can be transmitted. TCP provides guarantees that data will arrive in order and any lost data will be re-transmitted. TCP assumes it will receive a rapid response and where there is data loss, congestion algorithms throttle the network performance.


Universe Internet will work on MARS

This is a simplified description, but is sufficient to understand the challenges with establishing the internet on Mars.
How will we access the internet on Mars itself? Will the Mars pioneers follow the same approach of digging up the surface of the planet to bury cables? Maybe. There are no oceans so we can more efficiently connect regions with redundant connectivity, compared to all those sub-sea connections on Earth which regularly break and are difficult to repair. Or perhaps they will string cables up on poles like has been common in Asian cities on Earth.


Mobile connections are much more common in regions on Earth where wires are too expensive or difficult to deploy. Fixed-line networks have the benefit of low-latency, but in rural areas, and regions with less developed infrastructure, satellite connectivity could be preferred.

Numerous competitors
Delivering terabit speeds would put Unicorp Space into the same broadband category as SpaceX’s Starlink, Telesat, and OneWeb, with Unicorp Space saying it could offer its enterprise customers up to 10 Gbps or faster, but companies need to go beyond marketing statement and into demonstrating services in order to gain traction in the marketplace.


SpaceX is likely to put performance numbers on the table in the near-term, given it has 55 operational satellites from its first launch in June.
Founder and CEO Elon Musk has said Starlink could be faster than existing terrestrial fiber connections by using intra-satellite optical links to avoid delays introduced by multiple network hops and the physical medium of glass, but the first-generation satellites launched in June didn’t include such optical kit.


Until the next generation of satellites add optical links, Starlink network traffic will have to be routed through a ground station – “ground bounce” as Musk called it – if it needs to move between different satellite coverage area. Such bounces add latency, so Starlink is unlikely to live up to its faster-than-fiber representations initially and may be on par with OneWeb in the latency department from a network perspective.
If SpaceX conducts six Starlink launches by the end of the year, it should have enough satellites in orbit to offer regional service to Canada and the Northern United States, while OneWeb expects to have enough satellites in space to conduct customer tests in 2020 with global broadband coverage in 2021.


Next-generation uninet satellite broadband offers interesting opportunities for space storage centers, with gigabit speed (Gday) generation links offering emergency backup to terrestrial connectivity. Direct connectivity between space data storage and uninet satellites cells is another possibility, providing a straight-line path between the two without having to deploy resources for edge computing applications and perhaps the speed of light internet will become a reality according to Unicorp Space.
