Tencent (0700) released its first overseas video streaming service in Thailand.

“Reuters” quoted Han Zhijie, senior vice president of Tencent Penguin Films, said that the current Thai customer base of Tencent is the best target for entering Southeast Asia. “This is the market we want to enter first. If we look at the success of overseas markets, we can continue to challenge the next step.”

Tencent’s video platform in Thailand is called WeTV, which includes original Chinese content from Tencent Penguin Film and TV, and has Thai dubbing, as well as content created with Thai corporate partners.

The company has published music streaming service JOOX in Thailand and mobile game PUBG.
